Blast from the past

Well.. It’s been a pretty busy couple of months, but check out we found when backing up some files! An early attempt at a test shoot – semi-still life-ish – back from the time when I was an assistant (intern?) with One Twenty-One Studio!

Can’t believe it’s been more than 10 years since I shot this. But even today I can sort of get what I was trying to go for. The somewhat bizarro scenario of mannequins coming to life when no one is around.

Of course, it looks more creepy now in hindsight than it did when I was messing around trying to set these up. But hey, these were the only mannequins i had, so in the absence of actual live models, these were what I was going to use.

Don’t honestly remember where the red cloth came from, but I do remember leaving the equipment around on purpose. I guess I was trying to go for a warehouse type feel in a sense. And you know what? I still like the colours in this shot! Even after some 12~13 years!

I guess, in a sense our aesthetic doesn’t really change all that much? *shrugs*

We probably just keep looking for new ways to express it…
